Central MA Alliance of PACs (CMAPAC) for Special Education

Welcome to CMAPAC!

Parents of students with disabilities and local special education Parent Advisory Councils (PACs) have reason to celebrate. With the July 31, 2000 vote of the state legislature, special education PACs are here to stay! Which means that parents will still have a formal voice in the educational matters of children receiving special education services at the district level, and not merely at the individual school level.

Here in central Mass., parents have double cause to celebrate -- the newly formed Central MA Alliance of PACs (CMAPAC) was ready to roll for the 2000-2001 school year. The CMAPAC will allow PACs across central Mass. to pool resources, share costs for speakers, co-advertise each others workshops, and offer a larger parent network of support for families. By networking with other PACs, new ideas will be shared to boost your PACs effectiveness. Benefits for educators will include expanded opportunities to attend training on special education topics, both disability-specific, as well as more general workshops.

Ultimately, the new Alliance will offer parents and educators invaluable additional resources previously not available to them. For school districts that don't currently have a PAC, the CMAPAC will help parents and school districts get one started.

We hope you'll enjoy our website and will visit often to obtain new information and resources.

Working together to make a difference!

Mission Statement

The mission of the CMAPAC is to provide students with disabilities the best possible educational outcome, thereby allowing them to reach their full potential.

To do so, we'll work to form a strong alliance of those involved with special education within central MA -- PACs, parents, educators, administrators, as well as special education professionals (Special Education teachers, Speech and Language professionals, Occupational Therapists, Inclusion Specialists, etc.) -- and unite with a commom goal and true team effort to that end.
